Built by a real person
A solo founder who got tired of budgeting apps that felt like homework.
Set your split once. Watch it fill itself.
Give each category a share. When income lands, Taly fills every bucket. And when one hits its cap, the extra cascades to the buckets that still have room. We call it the overflow. You call it never touching a spreadsheet again.
- Step 1:
Set your shares once
Give each category a percentage of your income, and a dollar cap if you want one. About 90 seconds with our starter templates.
- Step 2:
Get paid
Income arrives from a CSV import, a manual entry, or a connected bank. Taly notices.
- Step 3:
It splits itself
Every dollar lands in the right category automatically. Caps fill, the overflow cascades, nothing’s left stranded.
This paycheck
$2,400
Savings hit its $400 cap, so $80 has nowhere to land on the first pass.
Three ways in. All of them easy.
Start with whichever fits and switch anytime. Only one of them needs a bank login, and it's always optional.
- Free
Type it in
Add transactions by hand in a couple of taps. Perfect for cash, and for anyone who’d rather never hand over a bank login.
- Free
Import a file
Drop in a CSV or OFX export from your bank, or use one-click presets to bring your whole history from Mint, YNAB, Monarch, or Copilot.
- Plus
Sync automatically
Connect your accounts once and new transactions show up on their own. The laziest option, and the heart of Plus. Rolling out at launch.
Manual entry and file import are free forever. Automatic bank sync is what your Plus subscription pays for.
Budgeting without the busywork
Same envelope discipline you came for, minus the part where you do it all by hand.
- The old way: Re-divide every paycheck by handThe Taly way: Splits itself the moment income lands
- The old way: Hope you remembered the capsThe Taly way: Caps fill, then the overflow cascades
- The old way: Start from a blank spreadsheetThe Taly way: Import from Mint, YNAB, Monarch, or Copilot
- The old way: Budget every SundayThe Taly way: Decide once, then forget it
- The old way: Wonder if you savedThe Taly way: Savings fills first, automatically
The clever part runs in the background
You set the rules. Taly does the sorting, the math, and the nagging, so budgeting takes seconds, not Sundays.
Auto-split every paycheck
The moment income lands, Taly distributes it across your categories by the rules you set. No spreadsheet. No Sunday-night budgeting session. It’s done before you notice.
Overflow that never wastes a dollar
Set a cap on any category and Taly respects it. When a bucket fills, the extra cascades into the categories that still have room, automatically. Every dollar lands somewhere on purpose.
Switch in an afternoon
One-click presets import your history from Mint, YNAB, Monarch, or Copilot, or bring any bank’s CSV. Your years of data come with you.
Finally see where it went
Clean trends and reports show income vs. spending, category by category, month over month. No finance degree, no pivot tables.
Goals & debts, in one place
Watch a savings goal climb and a debt shrink, right next to your everyday budget. The whole picture in one calm place.
Private by design
We never sell your data, never show ads, and never train AI on it. Encrypted in transit and at rest.
Calm, not cluttered
Budgeting is stressful enough, so Taly is built to feel quiet. Color where it helps you, calm everywhere else.

Good questions, straight answers
How does the automatic split actually work?
You give each category a percentage of your income, and an optional dollar cap. When income arrives, Taly distributes it across your categories by those rules. If a category hits its cap, the leftover cascades into the ones that still have room. We call it the overflow. Set it once; you don’t re-decide every month.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No. Manual entry and file import (CSV/OFX, with presets for Mint, YNAB, Monarch, and Copilot) are free and first-class. Automatic bank sync is the headline Plus feature — it’s rolling out at launch, and it’s always optional.
Why does Taly cost money when other budget apps are free?
Because “free” budgeting apps usually aren’t. They make money by selling your financial data, showing you ads, or nudging you toward credit cards. Taly’s free plan is genuinely free — Plus subscriptions are our only business model. That’s what lets us promise, in writing, that we’ll never sell your data or run ads. You’re the customer, not the product.
How much does Taly cost?
The free plan costs nothing, forever — no card, no trial clock. Plus is $11 a month (or $96 a year, about $8 a month) with a 14-day free trial, and you can cancel anytime. We won’t make it weird.
Is my financial data safe?
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never sell it, never show ads, and never use it to train AI. You can export or delete everything at any time.
Does it cost anything to join the waitlist?
Nope. Joining is free and there’s no card involved. You’re just telling us where to send the invite when your spot opens.
When can I actually use it?
